*ART* Our first card of 2023

“Welcome Home” – our first card and postcard of 2023. Now available in our Willow Lane shop. www.thelonelycreative.com/shop

This little folk art piece was painted a week ago, and though we have a backlog of cards waiting to be released this year, we thought this one looked like just the right card to go first. It had a happiness, a friendliness, and a brightness that we hope characterises 2023 for our Willow Lane shop.

It’s a little watercolour painting, not much bigger than the largest size card of A5 that we are offering and it’s all about inviting you into that idyllic little scene. All the roads, the lines of trees, the river, even the mountains are all pointing to that cottage on the hill. Look closely and you’ll see that the front door is open and inviting you in. Welcome home!

And welcome to our 2023 range.

We think this card would make a great “Welcome to your new home” card, or as they are in packs of 10, an invite to a housewarming, a collection of potential ‘thank you’ cards or ‘quick hello’ cards on hand and ready, or just a lovely piece of art to frame and put on your wall. (If you’re curious, you can read more about the inspiration behind the original artwork below.)

You can purchase the USA & Canada version HERE

For everyone else, go HERE for a choice of two sizes (A5 and A6)

Also available as a postcard HERE (sadly not available for the US & CA).

“Welcome Home” – Based on the original watercolour by Lisa Saul. See more about this painting in the box below.

Behind the scenes of the artwork itself.

Lisa writes, “Lately, my mind has been heavily on mountains, views, distance and houses and especially on the concept of finding a home. We have a move to Scotland coming up this year to a piece of land we aim to build on, and the dream of moving there and building our own home has been a long time coming. Our property overlooks mountain ranges and even a peep of a loch, and so views with mountains are appearing all the time in my sketchbooks and recent artworks. A lot of my artwork tries to represent the idea of finding a place to belong, or finding home.

“It had looked like we might be heading up to Scotland earlier than we thought, but it was not to be. But the idea of a place that welcomes me home remained strongly within me. And so using all the brightest colours I had, in that lovely simplistic folk art style that is so emotive to me, I painted Welcome Home.”
